Liothyronine is prescribed for hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) to replace or supplement the thyroid hormone naturally produced by the gland.

As a synthetic thyroid hormone, it supports overall health. In children, proper thyroid levels are crucial for normal growth and development.

This medication is also used for conditions like certain goiters and thyroid cancer and can aid in diagnosing thyroid disorders. However, it should not be used to treat infertility unless it results from low thyroid hormone levels.

Prescription drugs called Healtroxin (Thyroxine Sodium) pills, which come in strengths of 25 mcg, 50 mcg, 75 mcg, 100 mcg, and 150 mcg, are used to treat hypothyroidism by supplementing thyroid hormones that are insufficient. It controls metabolism and must be taken orally on an empty stomach on a regular basis, frequently for life, to treat the symptoms of an underactive thyroid.
Important Information about Healtroxin:
Applications: Management of hypothyroidism (low thyroid hormone secretion).

Administration: 30 to 60 minutes prior to breakfast, on an empty stomach.
Increased hunger, hair loss, headaches, diarrhea, vomiting, tremors, anxiety, and changes in weight are common side effects.
Precautions: If used as directed, it is usually safe during pregnancy, however dose changes could be required.
